Podiatric National Data Repository
Over 20 years ago, the Royal College of Podiatry assisted in creating a data repository called PASCOM-10 to help clinicians document and report podiatric care data.
This SQL database has evolved with multiple features for auditing purposes. Another similar tool called Podmo20 has been available for 5 years. These tools allow anonymous recording of podiatric pathology, interventions, and outcomes. Initially for surgical audits, they now cover broader podiatry areas. PASCOM-10 contains 160,000+ episodes and Podmo20 130,000+. The data has so far only benefited local trusts for securing funding and demonstrating practice scope and efficiency based on outcomes.
We are currently working on a project in collaboration with the Royal College to establish a process for anonymised national-level data retrieval and synthesis is needed to enable reporting that assures data integrity and governance. This can support professional reflection and advancement through evidence-based practice.
